em [collaborative studio] is a brand of interior products that are conceived considering principles beyond the typical design strategies applied in furnishings. em makes references to architecture, fashion and art all as a single process of thought. The brand offers a new perspective where new materials, new technologies or unusual mixes of elements are key to the design process. Conceptual ideas challenge existing standards while remaining functional.em is working with other designers and artists to continuously renew and update its collections. Collaborating designers are promoted under the em [collaborative studio] umbrella, with a selection of their own products edited by em, or products specifically designed for em. Contributing designers: Emmanuel Cobbet With a background in fashion, Emmanuel, designer and instigator of the em [collaborative studio] collection, is applying a new thinking pattern to interior products. His skills and expertise lay in concept and brand development. He has worked and lived in Paris, London and New York, and has now placed his sights on Los Angeles, which he considers as an ideal platform for the launch of the em collection. Marc Yeber Founder of em wi design group – the allied architectural and interior design practice – Marc helped to make em a reality. He consults on many aspects of this new product line, from designing to engineering pieces as well as coordinating production with local manufacturers. Marc will be acting as a permanent designer and technical advisor for em [collaborative studio]. Tim Malley Formally trained in industrial design from the Rhode Island School of Design, Tim has played a pivotal role in bringing to life most of em’s first collection. Consulting on many of the design and development issues, his skills helped to lay the foundation for several of the products. Currently residing in Paris, Tim looks forward to collaborating with em on a regular basis. em will soon be introducing a line of his own work.
